You could clean and polish it the day before.... Then drive it there with the car cover on and a little hole cut out so you can see where you're going......
Or you can try and find a thread by paddy, where he recommended a number of products for the lazy amongst us....
I've bought and tried them and they are very easy and quick to use, and give good results....
Unfortunatly I'm nowhere near my garage at the moment, so can't advise further.... But I'm sure a few other forum types, bought some of the stuff as well....

What I do is clean the car before leaving and use Stvarnagloss hyper beader on it (I always do anyway).
When I get to where I am going I find a local jetwash and use the lance (never the brush) to quickly wash and then use DI water to rinse.
I have found this to be a good compromise for arriving at events with the car nice and clean, even after a long journey.

Are these waterless systems any good or do they just scratch the clearcoat. Don't get me wrong, wouldn't replace jet was / a decent shampoo, but it is great for lifting surface dust, water marks, etc. but the secret is to use good quality microfibre towels. And don't go cheap, the Meg's one does the job very nicely. Try it on your (neighbours) car in an inconspicuous place. I'm proper fussy about the condition of paint and haven't seen any swirl marks on any of my cars.
