New owner (sort of) on the road!!
Discussion
Well picked up my cerb yesterday from joospeed...Been a long wait for parts (shock!) but im on the road...and its mint!! Not done too many miles (at work all weekend - just my luck!)
Very tentative yesterday in the wet - first rear wheeler (previously owned Evo VII Sprint) so a bit nervous to 'chuck' it around - feels very responsive though, more than i imagined it would!
Few little questions.
Trouble starting in a morning..needs some throttle and can die - once warm, no throttle required - i take it this is normal.
Speedo sometimes stays at 0 then springs into life past 30.....not bothered about that one!
Thats it so far i think....
Oil pressure at warm temp. - 40 idle, 60 on chat
Temp - gets up to 95, and drops to 90
Seen a few threads on fuel guage recently - think im filling her at a quarter left!
I know these cars are meant for 'avin some - but oh my god i could drive round at 2,000rpm all day - SNAP CRACKLE and POP.... Smiles for Miles - Hopefully ;-)
Hope to see a few of you 'pottering' about...

Well just had my lunch break at work - had to have a blat!!! didnt want to come back to work thats for sure!
Its a bypass run to the optimax so not that thrilling! I am going to get some octane booster from joolz.
Esso super could be on the cards...well it will be tonight.
Had a few embarassing moments though - Stalling the thing.Being a bit too sissy on the gas! Especially when turning into corners....obviously been in a underpowered car for too long and its turned me into a dotty driver.

I always run BP Ultimate, I do prefer it for some reason, I notice better acceleration IMO...
But,
Optimax just means louder - repetitive pops and some severe bangs, and the engine runs a little rougher IMO (well mine does anyway)... but Its supposed to be good for the engine... that counts I figure.... (and its a good safe way of cleaning the fuel system I was told by a geez working at the local shell filling station)
The flick to 20-30mph, is pretty much the norm, I've had it on 3 of them now... and seen it one a few, and heard about it on here more times than I can count, so I guess even the mighty Joolz hasnt got a fix for this one?!????
The starting when cold and stalling shouldnt happen, its a given that when she's running cold, the engine atmosphere isnt at peak and the oil is cold, and theres a build up of acidic crap (and in high-comp engines, its like pouring acid onto your skin and then very quickly washing water over it, see how long your arm lasts!) just before the oil starts moving around properly, this can cause a drop in revs, but your throttle pots should pick that up, and feed the information which should then automatically adjust the fuel/air mix and throttle auto-adjust.... so if its stalling, somethings not doing its job.... I normally give her slight revs for a couple of seconds and let go and she idles off around 800 and works her way up to 1000 as she gets warmer.... inline with the temp gauge going up to 65ish....
What parts were you waiting for?

SXS,
Started it this morning, quick blip and she held at just under 800...no problems at all...think its just me getting used to the starter button and when to release it etc. So hopefully shes all well.
Not stalled it either today!
Mind u im at work now...just volunteered for mac d's run though...any excuse!
Long story but Starter motor was the last part to arrive...
Parts received Friday, job done, car Friday afternoon, so ive now done about 100miles in it...and great miles they have been!
