So, where are the Ultimas for sale? Not much on here, nothing on the dreaded Bay etc. I assume nobody ever looks in the Ultima wanted section so I haven't bothered to advertise in there.

There are hundreds of them gathering spiders in garages yet nobody selling.

Any thoughts?

Says who? How would you know if they are gathering spiders or the owners are driving them?

We have seen them all over the last few years, lots of sports, SBC with new builds after a couple of k miles, new builds with a couple of miles on the clock, and personal body mods and interiors and a few which may of done 10,000 miles plus but not many. Then I assume the rest are garage queens (based on the few miles the ones that do pop up on the internet have done) or the best of the bunch are sold privately off the Internet and the rest are the owners who really love them and are keepers and are too busy driving them on track, and euroropean tours racking up enjoyable miles to read my dribble!

I am going to struggle to keep under my 3000 mile insurance annual limit.

The car had over 17K miles on it when I stripped it down so could soon be the Ultima with the highest mileage on it...................unless anyone has one with more!!!

Already done almost another 1k miles

Keep using it, as I will soon be catching you up!!!!

It is our duty to brighten up the day of all those little (and some not so little) boys that stop and stare open-mouthed. Even had a female car park attendant at the Silverstone Classic run after me so that she could take a photo....

So far it doesn't seem to generate the envy that a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc sometime does.

Why did you sell yours straight after having it built then? Probably the best one I've seen in the flesh.

Good question.... I commissioned the build to compete in the 2010 Time Attack series. Probably the most vital part of the build contract was being given an absolute assurance of completion ready for testing in February. It was delivered in October not completely finished. Heavily over budget at £130k I was "quite disappointed" to have the car delivered at the end of the season rather than before the start. It was a crushing blow not to get the car for the series and TBH I just wanted the fking thing out of my life.

Shame really as it drove exquisitely and should win some silverware. SSS knows his stuff.

Could you not have run it in the series the following year?

Nah, everything has its time and place and the opportunity was missed.

The organiser wanted me to run it in Castle Doom Special GTs. I was always attracted to that as its a bit of a spiritual home for the Ult and my fav circuit. However I suspect that giving a car that quick the full chocolates at Combe was pushing my luck with little run-off and hard scenery. Given the potential pace of the car, with a proper driver, not me obviously, it should have been able to chase Bob Lights times. This of course was what the car was built to do.

smileThe car came within an ace of exploding into flames coming home from Brands - shame it didn't - I would have got the £72k on the insurancehehe
