Olympic closing ceremony tickets...

A few ex colleagues (facebook friend types) are going to the closing ceremony on Sunday.
How nice for them, they've all been given tickets by their companies, who are sponsors.
Couldn't think of more deserving people either.
All are IT contractors on a tub full of money a month, and I know one of them at least (and suspect the others too) is doing the 'Jimmy Carr' school of income tax scheme.
Nice to know 'the right people' are getting the tickets.

My 13yr old niece is going.
Her best friends parents invited her along. They called my sister and asked if it was ok if they got her a ticket so their daughter had some company.
The extra ticket apparently cost them £1,400!
These people also went on that Chris Evans charity drive recently, apparently they paid somewhere in the region £150k for the honour.
It must be nice to just be able to spunk money like that!

On a remotely similar theme, one of my aunt's mates - that was staying with her too - told us that her sister had re-mortgaged her house to buy four opening ceremony tickets.
She said they were worth every pound she paid for them, and was in the same box as Kofi Annan and Bill gates.

Don't see the problem. The sponsor paid for them. Without sponsors the tickets would be even more expensive for Joe public or the taxpayer would pay more or the venues would be sh*t. How nice for them, they've all been given tickets by their companies, who are sponsors.

Maybe I do see the problem - the sponsor doesn't like you. C'est la vie.
