Afternoon all,

I've just run a quote on Confused.com to insure my Audi S5 and the quotes are surprising - especially considering I paid 475ish for the Boxster S.

The quotes include protected NCB (11yrs)for me (36) and my mrs (33):-

Privilege £365
eure £400
Sainsburys £405
Admiral £490
Audi £1355

Obviously a massive difference in prices. I am with Admiral at the mo and they were really good when my Ferrari windscreen got broken but I have since read about them using recylced or pattern parts in the event of an accident which I am not happy about.

Has anyone got any experience with any of the others - especially interested in how easy they are to deal with/hidden charges/quality of dealing with a repair.

Ta!

They all (apart from the Audi one) seem very low. Did you opt for a massive excess?

I am actually a Motor Claims Representative by occupation, so i can offer invaluble advice on this matter

I would highly recommend Privilege or Sainsburys, if you are involved in a accident, regardless of fault, they will offer there own garage, but you are not forced to use them, you can use your own garage.

be careful with your XS though, try to keep it around £200, voluntry + compulsary.

if you need any more advice PM me or reply, happy to help.

Wow that is good...

My best insurance premium, all things considered was £820 for the year on a £20k BMW 335i m-sport coupe at 21 years old and 1 years no claims plus a few points....

Unfortunatly it was £900 this year and set to go up in the autumn due to two non-fault accidents...

You're digging yourself in deeper there, love.

On topic - With my own insurer, to go from my 330 to an Elise is an extra £120, fair enough, to go to an S2000 is an extra £250. I can't figure that out.
S2000's are marked cars by insurers....highest group you can get. Not sure why as they aren't particularly desirable to nick and there aren't many around. It's prob due to the fact that alot of people stack it in them due to the vtec point and not understanding how to handle a car like that.

I owned one and never had a problem....i also got my insurance done by a 'friend' in the industry.
