I've got a whistling/churping noise coming from the front of the engine around the aircon pully/pully tensioner. Our man in the know (Joolz) says it could be the tensioner bearing drying up. However, when I was looking at the top pully, the whole lot was spinning (Both 1 and 2 in the photo) which I assumed it was the norm, but then the front of the pulley (1 in the photo) stopped, but the pulley itself was still spinning. What should be happening?

Cheers.

kojak, what was the outcome?
I assume the centre part spins when the clutch for the A/C kicks in. I'm still trying to figure out if my A/C is working or not.

With all these fotango pictures floating around, you'd think we can all get together and a write a Haynes manual on this beast!

I wander if Ted could host mechanic's related pictures for reference use... god knows how long fotango will stay in business or clear out their system.....

My aircon doesn't work either, what was the fix? (I've read that it might need re-gassing, but always interested on ither theories)

My aircon is ok.., it was the whistling noise that was the prob. Turned out to be nothing to do with the pulley's, but a loose/knackered oil breather pipe.
