The great thing about wasps is that they're drawn to bright light, and the wings are highly susceptible to temperature. So when one flew in I tried swatting it with an old copy of Track Driver (not wanting to ruin my latest unread copy of Autocar), but when a second flying bd appeared I decided it was time to bring my A-game.

By the time I'd ventured downstairs to grab a lighter and made my journey back up to the office - via bathroom to collect a can of deodorant - I was perturbed to find the duet of s had become a quartet. Clearly drawn by the entertaining fire display that was now taking place, a fifth - and very, very, final - decided to join the action; I thought it wise at this point to close the window.

It didn't take long to ground the would-be stinging bds: their flight pattern was mostly predictable, and wasp wings are no match for a can of Adidas Sport sprayed across an armed lighter. Home made flamethrowers for the win, yee-ha!!

So, dare I open the window again? It gets a bit toasty up here in the top of the house. 5 in 5 mins after nothing all night - do we have a problem here, or was it a coincidental fkers flyby?

When a flying bd is attacked or killed it gives off a scent that informs other flying bds to assist. It the insect world equivalent of shouting your mates over to help you kick someones head in.

You need to take out the source, like I did.
