hi all
im thinking of selling my tvr cerbera and purchasing this car
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4106121.htm

anyone know anything about it good points or bad please?
ive always fancied getting an ultima but have been put off mainly by ground clearance probs over speed humps and basically leaving the car anywhere unsupervised due to jealous idiots that will either nick it or willfully damage itfrown

i intend to use it as an everyday car plus i love my trackdays etc (although i currently have a pulsar gtir running over 400hp) which takes some beating on the track

so in a nutshell just how good are these things, and are they all their hyped up to be, plus any info on above car please?

A well sorted car last time I saw it.
Has done many camping trips to LeMans.

I don't believe an Ultima has ever been stolen and I've never heard of one being damage in the way you are concerned about.

Hi Bob
Nice car too expensive for a Sport, it also hasn't got the air intake on the front clip ( flat front clip )so where does all the air go to ? this was a modification on the next gereration to let the air flow through the rad and out.
These cars do attract a lot of attention but most of the time from admirers I have owned 4 Ults and all been for road use and I use them rain or shine so have covered a fair few miles, its been parked in pub car parks, hotels, show or wherever, and touch wood have never had a problem with vandalism, I would like to think people are unaware of what it is, therefore admire the car rather than see a Lambo or Fezza and think rich bstd.
Depending on your budget there will be a few more cars come up this winter after all the shows and events are over so maybe wait until the backend, but whatever you do Ultima ownership is a wonderful experience.
Hope you find what you are looking for,
PS an alarm or tracker isnt really needed because I have never heard of an Ult being stolen but it will help to have one fitted for a considerable reduction in the insurance premium.
regards Russell

why not? there has been a red GTR in the classifieds with a dealer for almost a year for not a lot more than that sport asking price, usre you could get it at a better price if you went looking with your cheque book or cash..

Hi Bob

I have both a Cerbera and an Ultima GTR and they are quite different vehicles.

Personally I don't see an Ultima as a daily driver, especially not in the winter. If you want to do more than 5k miles a year the insurance will be expensive. Fuel, probably 12mpg.

It will loose it's "theatre". If you only want one car stick with the Cerbera.

If you can find something cheap for a daily driver then an Ultima for "the weekend" will be a great choice.

Why too expensive?
Clearly a well sorted and looked after example, cooling is,obviously not an issue either otherwise it would have been modded by now.
The car is worth what someone will pay for it, and condition is everything with this type of car.
ETS The Ultima is probably going to be as light as you GTIR and commonly they are 500+ horse, you may be surprised at how well a sorted Ultima compares.

If people on here were all honest about it second hand Ultima prices are completely in the toilet ATM and have been heading south for the last 2 years from my own observations. You still have people holding on for prices from 6 years ago though..
If you have money to spend you should be able to get what you want - put a wanted ad out there, something will turn up eventually when someone gets sick of holding out for an unobtainable figure.
