Anybody have any experience of these? I kind of like the ugly beast that it is, its willfully ugly infact. They appear cheap second hand and well spec'd but you hardly see any knocking about as I suppose they sold badly in the first place.

Yeah? No? No.

Thought so.

I am curious though....

Interestingly different.

But you're more likely to bump into a whole flock of hens each with a full set of teeth than to find a Vel Satis!

Do a quick thread search - someone else asked the same question a few days ago.

Tip - use Google to search, the PH search is useless... smile

Other thread is here -> http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I also kind of like them and fancied a diesel one as my daily hack (120 mile round commute) given how cheap they are if you find them for such a comfy place to be ... I was warned off by a Renault dealer ....

No they are utterly terrible and will explode if you sit in one.

(Must say this in the hope that it puts you off, they are difficult enough to find as it is without competition)

Don't worry Farrendahl, I'm not in the market for one I was mainly just curious. I was doing my usual bored Autotrader surf and came upon one. I hadn't seen your thread earlier this week, weird to have two Vel Satis threads in one week!

Have you managed to hunt one down?

I'm taking the hunt slow, the money is there if I find the right one but truth be told I probably won't be replacing the ZT-T till October.

Ahh, ZT-Ts are nice. I loved my ZS180. I hanker after another one but my policy is to get a different car each time I change.

A Vel Satis is sufficiently different from an MX5 I think!

My dad had one for a while and he loved it. Nothing went wrong with it as far as I know.

The other thread was much more comprehensive, but my feelings haven't changed. They are known for woeful reliability, but I've never driven one or owned one so I couldn't really comment on that. But the styling is dire. It looks like an oversized blue rinse brigade car, and the interior is nothing special either.

Funny you should say that, I saw one here in France yesterday, that's the Vel Satis not the hens with teeth.
