Today is a sad day..

Got the old girl a fresh MOT at the weekend and decided to take it to work today (just had almost two weeks off but couldn't get the Friday so was in for one day).Left work, got 800 yards up the road and a van coming towards me turned in front of me to enter the side road I was passing.I didn't have time to brake, steer, or think about anything at all.From pride and joy to trashed in a matter of seconds.

This is what puts me off ever investing time/money/love into a car. A mate of mine put his heart and soul into nut and bolt rebuilding a late 80's BMW 535. It looked absolutely stunning until it was arse-ended.

Several thousands pounds, 18 months hard work and a lot of scraped knuckles was written off and settled for next to bugger all.

When I first clicked on the Youtube link I thought it was like a little slide show you made of the car before and after the wreck, then I noticed it had 19 million views.......

Anyway, bad luck man, I've never been there before I hope never to be. Sucks about the insurance as well, you're probably right. They'll just see it as 20 year old write off =(

That's why I urge anyone with a cherished car to get a valuation and if in anyway possible, an agreed value insurance policy.

Cheers all.Another is on the cards, purely for the fact you can't really have as much fun on four wheels for about a grand!

Lots of 'stuff' has been pushed back quite a way under the bonnet, so it's looking very much like it will be written off.
