Cleaning my car earler today and i was thinking how many cow hides does it take to trim out the average tvr.

the average cow hide is about 50 sq. ft - with a 6ft x 5ft main section. If you use a lot of small sewn together panels on an item you can get away with little waste... so, TVR seat panels & other little trims etc... I guess at around one to one & a half hides? (2-seaters)

did you know... the scars you see on hide are mainly caused when the animals cut themselves on barbed wire!!

Just had my Griff re-trimmed all leather, my trimmer said 4 hides complete - well he charged me for 4 (a suspicous man may think less!!)

I'm getting some seats retrimed for the Griff soon, hope the cows providing the hides, dont' come from Milton Keynes!!

A couple of questions that have troubled me in the wee small hours:

What exactly do the farmers feed the cows on to get the various colours?

Also, how long does it take for the hide to re-grow?

The secret to avoiding this is not to sneak up on them and startle them.

Take a little time to get to know them, perhaps put on some eau du cologne, play some romantic music, say some nice things about their appearance.

Only then should you think about putting your wellies on.......
