SWMBO wants a camera for about £100 for taking random snaps and putting them on Facebook. Nothing fancy but does a decent enough job.

I have seen this one which seems like a bit of a bargain - is there something I am missing?

I should think any compact would be OK for putting photos on Facebook, though I'd avoid such high resolution.

(16Mp is about 4910 x 3260 pixels; you'll probably only need 800 x 600)

Great choice for the intended use.

Why not spend £100 on a decent smartphone?

Have a look at the Argos Ebay store. They have quite a few decent deals on stuff like this. Tends to be either old stock or ex display but comes with warranty. We bought a £200 Panasonic from there last year for £90 as it had just bee replaced.

Currys have a similar set up.

(direct) Flash on P&S and phones is terrible anyhow, better off without it.

First thing I thought when I saw the thread title. iPhone + one of any number of Apps (Hipstamatic, Gorillapod, PS Express, 8mm, ReelMoments). OK not £100.

But anyone with a budget of up to about half the capital cost of a smartphone should start here. If nothing else, you'll always have it with you!!!!

Wait for the iPhone 5 announcement and pick up a bargain 4S (you can even talk to them these days....)

Stick to circa 10mp with a compact. I always found that once you get to a point, the iamge quality actually worsens with more megapixels as the sensors are so small, the extra pixels are just made up with noise.

TBH though, facebook compresses the fk out of images so it will make no difference on the original source anyway.
