Being not very technically car minded I'm unable to work out how to fix this simple-ish fault - I hope.

I don't want to spend 3 hours and 200 miles to get the dealer to fix it if it can be avoided.

Simply put, the wipers are not returning to the rest point although they do complete a full sweep when in use.

Anybody got any ideas how to fix this one ?

1) Check the nuts holding both arms on - they sometimes come loose and re-register in the next notch!

2) Make sure the blades are clean (you can wipe with RainX - see below).

3) Apply RainX to your winsdcreen - helps with the free movement of the blade across the glass.

Think the wiper box itself can also come adrift, so check that too. (There are a few screws to check)

Easy to spot both arms. Mines are slack, well what I mean is that each join seems to move very freely. I'm probably not explaining myself properly here. What I man is that I would expect them to move in certain directions just not all directions !

Blades are perfectly clean. As said the wipers do complete a full cycle when in fastest mode. When switched off they never return to original place.

Did you ever sort this out? Mine have developed the same problem.

I find the far left-side sweep is the worst.

Mine just aren't returning home when I turn them off. Is there a switch somewhere that needs checking? May just be that the wiper box needs tightening.

Yes a mechanic friend sorted it in 5 minutes.

Basically from the passenger side undo the one nut closest to you. It's on top of the wiper mechanism. Pull the blades back to their resting point and tighten nut.

It worked for me and hasn't ever happenned again.
