Padding for my poor "arriss"
Discussion
Evening all
I had my first ride out last night and although I really enjoyed myself, my arse is killing me!
I just went out in normal shorts and didn't give it a thought. I bought some padded shorts today but the damage is done.
So is there anything else I should be looking at to stop my arse hurting when I'm on the bike? What other measures do you take to minimise the pain?
I'm looking to get out there sometime tomorrow so advice would be appreciated.
And could we possibly avoid the jokes I'm expecting to pop up please.
Cheers in advance

) And it's true: you have to adapt to it, and that comes through time and miles, nothing else.It will get better with time, assuming you have the set up right - saddle height, angle, etc. Saying that, if the saddle that came as standard isn't comfortable for you, you could try a cheap replacement such as: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/charge-spoon-saddle-with-c... to see if it makes a difference.
I don't know of anyone who doesn't like the Spoon! (There is a Titanium railed one which weighs less, and costs 6x more!) I have a spoon on my Full Sus MTB, and a Charge Knife on my road bike. So much more comfortable than the own brand saddle my Boardman came with!

Good post, i changed the seat on my Trek as soon as i got it for the Charge-Spoon, really top value and well recommended on sites like BikeRadar.I don't know of anyone who doesn't like the Spoon! If it's your first ride then it will hurt. As will your second and many after that.
Your arse isn't used to that seating position so it will take a while to get used to it.
Don't think going for the most padded saddle will help you either. It probably won't.
Don't change your saddle too soon either. Once you have been riding for a while then you should start swapping. If you swap too soon then you might be getting rid of a good saddle but the issue may have been your arse not used to ANY saddle.
