Discovering a Discovery

A few months ago i realised i was a complete twit for parting with my T5 Transporter as it done everything i need a vehicle to do, so after reeling in self pity, telling myself how much of a fool i was i decided to replace the T5 with something MUCH cheaper, but ultimately capable of doing the same criteria, towing, carrying crap to the tip and ferrying me to work in comfort.

I came up with this, for my modest budget i think i have done rather well, it is solid underneath, drives mint, "most" of the toys work and it tows brilliantly







Its my first Land Rover and my ,and it has been great so far, its the ES Model which gives me, amongst other things, leather seats, cruise control, (leaky) sunroofs, 7 seats and possibly the best factory fit sound system i have ever had in a car, which is quite ironic considering its a Land Rover

Here she is earning her keep, taking the Classic for some much needed TLC




I wont lie, its not dynamic, fast or capable of a sub 8 minute ring time, but i adore it.

So how easy is it to fix the leaky sunroofs and how many toys don't work?

The sunroof fix may be something to do with a drain pipe which hardens then cracks or splits. I *think* it runs from the sunroof down the A pillar. I know a friend recently had to sort his. Fiddly but DIY, I believe.

Well done!.. The disco looks well.

Im a bit of a Land Rover fan and I do think the discovery 2's are a better value prospect than the likes of the Defenders.. Capable off road yet able to transport you in comfort.

I have bought and sold a couple of Disco 2's in my time and was massively stung with the last one requiring 4 new lock mechanisms!.. If you press your central locking button and the lock pins arnt all dropping let me know as after having to break my way into 4 locked Disco doors I am now the Country's leading expert on the subject(unofficial)!

Did you get one with the central lock dif? I think they removed it at some time during the D2's model life cycle.
