Hi all.

I'm soon to invest on the 100, as a hobby more than anything. I've set aside a budget of safety money that if the worse came to worse I could stomach writing it off.

Which broker?
I'm banking with barclays ATM so it seems logical to use them. Their fees seem reasonable but I have nothing to compare to?

Many thanks in advance.

I've done the same recently. I bank with Barclays so I went with their broker service, seemed similar to what the other banks were charging at the time but I didn't look into independents at time. What are you looking at investing in ?

I'm not really thinking long term investment I'm just thinking short term trades but high volume. I've been doing a lot of research and have been monitoring the 100 carefully, so I'm going to s.tick to the one Market for now.

What do you invest in?

For trading an index (FTSE100 or other) you should really use spreadbetting. No commission (just very little difference between buy and sell) and no taxes to pay IF you make profit. Just make sure you know how much of underlying value you want to hold (f.x £1/point for the index at 5800 will mean £5800).
