Why are main dealers so lazy?

Browsing on ebay, their own website and the likes- 90% of ads do not state power/co2/mpg etc.

This info is rather important, is it down to lazyness or what?

Don't get me wrong I know the figures, by and large but that's not the point. The majority of the public don't and for the price they charge I do find it lazy!

While I think that is a little lazy I think its sort of a case of..

You are interested in hp and probably know alot about spec in which case you can google the info.
You know nothing about cars, so probably don't even know what hp is so would be meaningless to you.

Thats the bottom line really.

I'd never think to put those details in my adverts. Realistically in this day and age those who care will have looked it up elsewhere anyway.

What details they don't publish, they can't be accused of getting wrong - e.g. fuel economy they can only quote the EU test results, but they know often they are unachievable for average driver so basically wrong.

all the information is available at the dealerships (generally), you need a reason for people to phone up and enquire.

I agree with everything said but I still don't think it would do any harm sticking a few figures down.
An example is BMW.
Looking for a 335d. I know that around 2008 the (official) mpg is quoted at 42 mpg yet pre facelift I think the MPG is mid thirties official.
How do I know if an 08 car I'm looking at is the more economical model? I doubt ringing a BMW salesman would help me either!!

just look on autotrader every car advertised has different tabs with the advert, there is one about performance and economy on every single car advertised. Not difficult to find the info.

Done this for years- all 335d's are quoted at 42mpg official.

Yep but for facelifts/ newer engines it can be tricky.

If they can't be arsed to do so, the last thing I am going to do is spend my time and call them to find out.

If you wanted somthing bad enough I'm 100% sure you would make that phone call I know I would.
If the price was to much all i've lost is 2 minutes of my time and a 10p phone call.

Erm, Facelifts by their very name should be quite easy to spot by looking at pictures.

Tricky with some - an LCI 5 series with a pre LCI car for example.
