Appreciate these are a revenue earner (I read the FAQ), but today the amount I'm getting is ridiculous.

Putting a blocker on is all well and good, but other web sites actually use pop ups for functionality so it gets to be a right pain remembering to turn it on and off.

Understand I'm being a bit whiney, but can't some alternatives be used to stop them being necessary? I'm cool with ads on the posting pages, and would even be happy to have some form of subscription model put in place to get rid of pop ups!

The ones today aren't even relevant to anything I'd be likely to buy (advertising adverts of all things).

The only popups being generated by PH currently are for SEAT cars. There should be a maximum of one per session.

What else are you getting ads for?

Yep, everytime I visit a new page it appears. This is most likely due to me closing the popup immediately, but I don't want it on my screen, even in the background.

It's worst than those dubious sites I was shown once, by someone I can't remember

Sorry - it was an error on our part but any new browser sessions started now shouldn't suffer the problem (i.e. if it's happening on every page, please close down your browser and restart it).

Nope, new browser session, haven't closed a popup too soon and they pop back up in front of EVERY page. Wouldn't be so bad if they were on the right have side of the screen, but on the left they sit just over where my 'browser back' button is....

Cookies are on 'ask'. PH 'should' be OK I'm guessing as I don't think I blocked it...plus it remembers me

Still a pain though, and still popping up on every page change/refresh

The cookie that limits the number of displays won't be a PistonHeads cookie. It will be a third party cookie from someboy like Realmedia as the delivery isn't controlled by my ad server.

Sorry Ted, looks like I started something

My laptop died on Sunday with HDD failure. Don't think it was pop up related , but has stopped me spending time on here.

They were definitely coming up with every click more or less (neil.b has good taste, I have a similar set up, or did until the HDD failure which should be sorted this week).

To be honest, I only casually glanced at the pop ups, but it looked like adverts for an advertising agency. That said, it could have been some "clever" ad campaign by Seat that was obviously too clever for its own good.

Just a thought, but perhaps a subscription model could be implemented that simply blocks pop ups (and other user selectable) ads if the user is tagged as a paid up member? IE you don't have to subscribe, but if you don't, you get blitzed with ads (nice cars as they are, can't see me ever buying a Seat ).

It would sound from the above that a number of people might stump up. I know for one I don't mind paying for sites that I have a laugh with and/or get useful info from (both applying with PH).

For some time now I have given consideration to a subscription system that gives users some extra features.

Changes are afoot which may mean that some of these development tasks get done more quickly...

Me too. In fact just got yet another when making this post!

Tried leaving them to load fully but makes no difference. Also have cookies enabled so that isn't helping either.

These things are now seriously pissing me off. Please do something about it Ted.
