Just been sent this advert asking if it's a good deal, and apart from the lack of information and the stupidly low price that make me cautious, there's an advert for the same car in nearly every region of the UK which seems dodgy to me.

Anyone got any ideas why? I wondered if it was something aimed at gathering email addresses/distributing viruses, but am really not sure.

Thanks

Gosh I've no idea what could be going on here. I'd imagine its a totally genuine sale and not simply a blatant scam.

hehe But what is the scam? Surely people don't fall for this and just hand over the money that easily? Or am I giving people too much credit? I assumed it was something more sophisticated.

Pay by paypal who will 'hold the money for you' until the car arrives, you then get a badly worded email from paypal saying this.

Yes, some people fall for it - the terminally dim mainly.

Add some more as I find this interesting but slightly lacking in detail.

There were rumours of a drive by ebay to push private sellers off ebay and on to gumtree. Ebay for 'professional' sellers, and outlets from brands, gumtree for private individuals.

Very interesting and to be honest I have had more success buying and selling on Gumtree in general. No idea they were one and the same though.
