The new management hasn't made a good impression on the dutch TVR club as our planned factory visit for the 7th of september was cancelled this week. The dutch TVR club has an annual one week tour which is mostly held in Scotland and involves nice routes, hotels and many pints.. This year we are going to Wales and had a nice factory visit planned as our firstdays route from Hull to Blackpool and on to our first hotel. It's a pitty that some 40 TVR enthusiasts are put off as amongst them are potential buyers of new TVR's esspecially since they are now for sale in our country. But we are going to have a fantastic week anyway!!!

B*sterds, how can they do that? Some 40 TVR enthousiasts have planned their trip thoroughly since the beginning of this year and TVR lets them down just like that. Maybe time to switch to another brand that does care about it's customers.
Have fun Bernard, sorry we can't make it this year.

Didn't deal with the factory myself, but i understand that the reason was something like ''due to new management, we are sorry to let you know blablabla..........''

Thanks steve! I was looking forward to the visit but it's not the main reason we are coming to Wales for, that is enjoying your beautyfull country!!

Will drop you an email tomorrow. It would be great to have a drink with you and other TVR enthusiasts (if it's not to far out of your way ofcourse)!!!!

Loyalty being a two way thing, i think the factory has shown you what they think of you. Try knocking on the door of Marcos or Lotus, i hope they value their existing customers/ambassadors/fans.

Sorry to say I am with the new factory policy on this one, although I fully sympathise with the Dutch TVR club and the dissapointment they have experienced.

Mr. Smolenski has invested a pot of money in the place and has cleary set his stall out to improve build quality, reliablity and delivery times, so how can having 40 people trailing about the factory help him achieve this please??

It is supposed to be a place of work and at the moment everyone needs to concentrate and focus on the neccessary improvements to help TVR move to the top and be the marque it should be.

I would hope in the future that a visiting system will return as I agree it is good for future customers to see how their product is produced, but now is an inappropriate time.

I can see your point, but we made these arrangements some time ago and we were not going like a group of chinsese tourist but divided throughout the day in small groups of 6 to 8. As their way of producing is an art, they should handle this as a selling point.

I just hope that the improvements are for the better as i see TVR as a small factory which produces the most beautifull and extreme cars in a way only they can. You just don't buy a TVR for the reliability or built quality but simply because you love them! They offer extreme performance for your money and are relatively rare and that is how they should stay.

It's all down to communications... might have been more palatable if an explanation had been given.

What's the problem with doing a tour for 40 TVR owners / potential new car buyers? How does that intervene with improving the quality? They already expect a big mess inside, so what's the harm?
Taking care of your customers, especially since they made special arrangements to come visit you, should be priority no. 1 and a major part of overall quality control !

Bently, Rolls Astin etc have made it policy to encourage customers to come and see the factory. Is TVR somehow aluf to these brands?

However, if the week in question co-insides with a total gutting and refitting of the factory, then fair point!

Then they should have know/thought of that when the request was made 6 months ago.

Another missed opportunity. Doing something a little special for these guys would have been a real indication that things were improving at TVR.
Its about going that extra mile for your customers.
But have TVR ever capitalised on their legends of loyal supporters/owners.
I am on my second TVR and whether I will upgrade to a third all depends on whether TVR turn the corner in the next year. The topics of which are well discussed on this forum.
