I have been looking to change my TT for something more practical as have got into some outdoors activities including camping holidays which just do not fit. Originally looked at C Class/A4/3 series estate but found them very small in the back and to be honest not so keen on the estate car image - there is only two of us and it felt too much like a family car with an older person in mind.

Landed up looking at some of the smaller SUVs and in particular the Audi Q5. Are there some other things I should be looking at for something that has a reasonably youthful image but at the same time is practical?

I think it is the angle of the seats - because the Q5 is taller you sit more upright and there seemed to be a lot more knee room in the back

I thought you said there were only two of you wink

I prefer the image of estates to lifestyle off-roaders fwiw, but if you want a soft roader the Q5 seems to get plenty of good reviews.

The other obvious rival is the BMW x3, though I am more drawn to the Volvo XC60 if I had to have a soft-roader. Audi A6 Allroad might be worth a look too, and should be the most roomy option.

There's only two of us but one of the reasons for getting rid of the TT is that it's a bit antisocial not being able to carry friends/family so need it to be comfortable when we do. Hadn't thought of XC60 but not very keen on the looks of X3.
