Since loosing my job with Nokia at the end of last year, I have managed to find another job. However, it is working for the government and generally speaking, work is very slow, tedious and boring.

I have identified that I would love to work for Vodafone in Newbury. I have worked with them before and like their work culture. My experience is within the telecoms sector and I would like to remain within this field. My passion is within this sector.
Vodafone is also local to my current residence and would cut my commute by 50%.

I have been applying for positions via the VF UK website. I have also asked friends, family etc to ask their friends etc if they know anyone who works there. I have sent my CV to these contacts too.
Some of the advertised jobs are really well suited to my skill set. However, I regularly receive the same automated response from VF, which reads something like "Unfortunately, after careful consideration"........

How can I speak to someone in HR about a job here and actually get employed by them?
I am hoping that someone reading this will be able to help - Like an inside job.

Edited to correct really bad spelling.........

Getting contacts is notoriously difficult, and obviously we all leave references off our CVs to stop current employees getting spammed by randoms. Last time I was at Voda was 2005 so I don't have any current contacts.

I take it you've looked on jobserve etc as you can clearly see which jobs are with them. You could call the agencies that look like they are representing jobs from them and get your CV to them?

Call them on site? If you get a gatekeeper tell them its Ray from Nokia calling.

Definitely try the LinkedIn route.
I've been contacted by them on a couple of occassions (via LinkedIn details) trying to poach me from one of their main competitors.

I have been told that it might be worth my while to state what i do.
There maybe other companies local to my area who could be as good/better employers than Vodafone.

When I left Nokia, I was a Customer Technical Acceptance Manager also working as a Technical Account manager. This was working on the acceptance of Smart phones running S60 SW. I have expereince of RF circuit design all the way up to SW and handset validation. I have really enjoyed obtaining GCF validation for handsets and also enjoy IOP testing.

I am now a Trial Manager for the MoD and am not enjoying the slow pace and politics. No one trusts each other here and that is difficult to accept.

Looking for something challenging, so i can feel passionate about work again.

OP why not try Microsoft too. Voice/telecomms is becoming a big part of the business.

That sounds promising - completely sticking my nose in here, but it'd be lovely to see Ray settled as he's had a crap quite a few months (and he also suffers from living in the same area as me tongue out)

(just to derail it a little further - never thought I'd say this but I quite like my bit of Swindon)

Will keep everything crossed that you get the job!

Vodafone Recruitment is controlled by Alexander Mann Solutions. I used to work there. Getting hold of the recruiters is a huge challenge unless they have picked you for a shortlist.

Try looking at AMS on linked in and finding the appropriate recruiter that way.
