Hi

In 2010 I sold a car (e34 530i touring) to a chap via ebay, and ever since that moment i've desperately wanted it back.

I tried ebay messaging him last year (when I eventually settled for a 328i sport) but he seems to be rarely on it, so I gave up.

I really want that car back, I've messaged him again. It's still insured - is there anything else I can do?

Quite a lot of sentimental value with that car, was foolish enough to listen to those telling me to get a more economical car, but it quickly became apparent it doesnt make all that much difference to my pocket - even at 21mpg average. frown

ps. Its registration M389TKE, in oxford green. If anyone happens to spot it....

Bahaha

I would if I could remember where he lived.

Unfortunately I didn't post the car.

What did you leave hidden in it that no other similar BMW for sale will have?

Have you tried searching on Google etc. on his username? Also you can do a "contact request" for their name/address/phone if you have the item number of the original listing, although there might possibly be a time limit on how long after the listing you can use it:

What happens if the new owner doesn't want to sell?

I am guessing he is happy with it otherwise it would have popped up somewhere for sale.

Very good memories, nostalgia, sentimental value, elbow grease... I want THAT one.

The chap held onto his cars for a looooonnnngggg time, until destruction as far as I can gather. Was of 'advancing' years, lovely guy, but I had to teach him how to drive an auto when I picked it up.

I'd stand a better chance of getting it back if I can find it.

I've done this a couple of times to get the history of my classc cars. You have to give them a good reason though. I emailed some images of the cars and history folder.

Copied from another forum...

I know that this facililty is regularly used.

Release of another vehicle’s keeper details

You can obtain the name and address of the registered keeper of a vehicle if you can show reasonable cause for needing the information.

Members of the public will need to complete form V888. Companies can either complete form VQ3 or apply in writing giving full details of the reason for the enquiry and the vehicle registration mark. Both forms are available from DVLA.

The fee for information at a specific date of event is £2.50 per vehicle. If further information is required, for instance, a copy of a document or additional keeper information, a fee of £5 is required per vehicle.

Send your application to: Vehicle Record Enquiries, Vehicle Customer Services, DVLA, Swansea SA99 1AJ.

Every PNC check they do is logged, and checked at random, they'd lose their job if they were found to be doing guvvy checks for mates.

All true but doesn't mean it doesn't (can't!) happen!
