Selling a car that you cannot afford to repair
Discussion
Chap at work bought an 4yo Audi last year from a small non franchised dealer (cannot name and shame) but to cut a long story short it has been a nightmare. He is now looking to cut his losses and stress and just wants rid of the car (with the history of issues relating to the now unrepairable engine - as deemed by a specialist garage)
How would you sell the vehicle on with minimal comeback and best financial certainty ?
EDIT: PS if anybody wants more details then I will pass your contact info onto my colleague

- Trade-in at or sell to franchise dealer?
- ebay?
- Sell to a salvage company?
- PH - classifieds clearly identifying the issues?
- xYz private sale?
- company with dodgy name similar to the one with the annoying adverts?

Will he be able to claim after the length of time?
You said it was last year which is at least 8 months ago!
Also why didn't he approach the dealer when the first problem arose?
Ebay probably the best place. Always people on there who are prepared to repair cars.
He did approach the dealer and after several attempts to repair (and to be fair the dealer has paid out for several items in the process of diagnosis and is already running at a loss) : Already approached Trading Standards etc, but they were not interested (or under resourced) as it exceed the small claims limit. You said it was last year which is at least 8 months ago!
