A Brief Car History

Been on here a while now, spend more time as a lurker than a poster but thought i'd share a brief car history with you! Enjoy!
306 1.9 D-turbo - My first car! Started working at 15 and by the time i was 17 had saved up enough to buy my first car, generously my family bought me my first years insurance as a birthday present.
Great first car! Reliable and fairly pokey it ferried me and my mates to college every day and barely put a foot wrong in the 2 years i owned it! Obviously did the things any 17 year old would do and fitted Peugeot alloys to spruce it up a bit! Was sad to see it go but had a hankering for something quicker!
Having built up a couple years no claims, and having loved my previous 306, the only way forward was a GTi6!
Bought this one relatively cheaply, having knocked the price down as it had a couple niggles. Day after buying it i changed the broken engine mount and gave it a good tidy up!
After 2 years of fun motoring, unfortunately someone stacked into the back of it writing it off. Although the damage was cosmetic the insurance company declared it uneconomical to repair. They paid out £150 more than i paid for the car, and i retained the vehicle free of charge.
I carried on driving it for a year, dent and all, before moving on.

Having worked lots of overtime and been very strict with my spending i saved up enough money to buy my 3rd car. At 22 the insurance was bearable also!
Really was a lovely car, in the time i had it, I fitted a set of HID headlights, as well as this i added a Badger5 Turbo intake pipe with cone filter and induction kit. The plan was to fit an uprated diverter valve then get a remap.
However disaster struck on an Icy evening and the Leon became victim of a patch of black Ice.
Sat in the back of a highways agency truck staring at hours of hard work sat at the side of the road was a heartbreaking experience, one i don't wish to repeat. However a hard lesson was learned and no one else was involved and no one was injured, i'm thankful for that much. Must say the highways agency gets a lot of stick from some people, but the guys who helped me out couldn't have been more helpful and understanding, really cracking pair of blokes.
So after claiming on my insurance and loosing all faith in cars i started looking for cheap bangers for a couple hundred quid.
However after getting some insurance quotes and realizing insurance prices had been largely unaffected, my faith was restored. I started looking for my new car... and after a few weeks of walking and getting lifts I finally bought this:
It's a 53 plate BMW 330ci - always fancied one of these, especially with the M-Sport body kit. Well looked after example with a full service history, very nice drive, has a lot of kit for the money.

That concludes my car history to date! I like to enjoy something I've worked for and earned, i don't believe in the bank of mum and dad.
The dream car at minute is an E46 M3, however the next goal is a house so these plans may have to go on hold for a while!

Nice little read cheers for that. I've just got an E46 330ci sport myself.
Mine is a 2001 in topaz blue and completely standard, such a nice car compared to my old Corrado VR6 (I miss the noise already) but I do find the BMW a little bit boring, very linear power and not much drama, Like you I think that an E46 M3 is the way forward

Yeah they really are awesome looking! Don't see that many off them around when you compare them to the likes of the Civic Type R. With a bit of work and a remap they will easily see 260+ bhp!Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
