I can't help myself but remember this from a couple of weeks ago.

Can anyone tell me where the switch/actuator for the reverse light is situated on the SD1 gearbox. Hoping that it can be accessed from below the car as I don't want to take out the lower console/fishtail if I can help it!
Thanks

Paul, see post referred to by JoolzB. Yes you can get to it from underneath the car. It's on the driver's side of the gearbox, screwed into a plate under the selection mechanism, up the top of the box, near the back. From memory it's held in by a nut either side of the plate, each nut screwed on to the threaded shaft of the reverse light switch, and tightened up against the plate. To remove, use screwdrivers/spanners/mole grips - whatever fits! I ended up using spanners on spanners and all sorts. If you can loosen the nut on the underside of the plate, with a bit of luck you can get your fingers on the nut above the plate and hold it still whilst unscrewing the switch. Make it up as you go along, basically! I cleaned mine and WD40'd it, but when I looked at it it looked suspiciously similar to the ones for sale at a kit car show as 'Triumph Spitfire etc' for only £1.50!! When you put it back, only do it a nip past finger tight so you can adjust it/get it out next time....
