Recommendations for a sat nav please

Ive never owned a sat nav and feel it's time to get one. I wanted to get the factory one fitted to my R8 but I hear it's not to good so any suggestions. A good one for the UK is fine I'm not to bothered if it doesn't cover Europe but I would like to store my own points of interests if possible

im a garmin man, had many tom toms over the years and hated them (personal pref)

your best off going down halfords and trying some out.

I've got a Tom Tom, works ok for me, never had a Garmin to comment.

I have nothing against those that prefer Tom Tom, but Garmin have always worked well for me.

Currently the Nuvi 1200 from Halford is cheaper than the cost of map updates (and you have 60 days to upload the latest for free).

I use the one built into my Android. Got an in-car charger and a cradle that clips onto one of the fins on the air-vent and it's perfect.

there's a free app called nav free which downloads all the maps to your sim card...this means no data streaming, works bloody well too

Garmin stuff I've had is great.
on my third,and wouldn't change as they have been so good.
They've just launched a new model,and I was looking to upgrade again.
Only time I get lost,is when I think I know better,The Nav is alway's right.
