Hold the egg in your left hand...tilt head back slightly...place half of egg into mouth whilst still holding on to egg with fingers of left hand....now begin to suck nicely...

copper in manchester told me once that the best thing to do was take everything of value out of the car and leave it unlocked. The kids thieving in my area would open the door have a look around and p*ss off without doing any damage!! Always encouraging to hear from a policeman!

I think you've missed the most obvious:

KEEP HOLD OF YOUR KEYS!!

... and dont leave them in plain sight through a window or near yr letterbox.. and always keep your house doors locked too....

dammit - tehre go my Superhero inclinations....

think the idea of leaving the car unlocked and with nothing of use in it is great as long as they dont actually want the car as well! I suppose that breaking the window to get the car or the stuf isn't a great difference so actually that's a great idea!

It was a very old and very knakered 106, they were welcome to it, when they punched the door lock out they did 800 quids worth of damage!!

to be fair my 'Scort of Doom' and 'Clitroen of terro' were always left unlocked everywhere for similar reason.

Scort fell apart first, but someone did finally pinch the citroen....thank god....man he'd have regretted that in about 2 miles!

Gary, you forgot one - MulTLock or eqivalent (Diamond Lock etc.) Locks the trransmission into reverse and almost impossible to remove without the key.

If I have to leave mine for any time I empty it and leave the glovebox/cubbyholes wide open and the load bay cover off to show it's completely empty. It can't hurt and it might help

Matt.
The country is full of 'numpties'.
For example there is a motorway service area in my 'patch' that has a 'theft from car' every other day. Laptops, mobile phones etc etc.

We, the police, mount operations there and usually net some decent crims. However, the type of criminal in question come from miles around to commit their crime. They travel from one end of the country to the other to find victims. Only one thing to stop them, YOU the motorist..>Stop leaving valuables in the car.

My attitude exactly. We spent a sizeable sum of money on a burglar alarm system, and are obliged to spend a further sum each year for inspection and maintenance. The terms of our insurance cover require this to be done, but it is yet another cost that we should not have to face.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Its a question of balance. Now we all should be able to leave our cars and home open but we can't. There are criminals out there and this is a fact we need to wake up to. On the other hand we shouldn't have to totally run our lives by the criminals rules. BUT some common sense applied could save alot of hassle. For example walking pooch tonight. Goes past a nice new merc. Hmm have a quick look inside and there's a nice black case with Toshiba on it on the back seat, whats wrong with locking it in the boot?

Funny thing is: last week I was in Germany and walking down the street past a few open topped parked cars, noticed many with bags, boxes, and other items on the back seat. Now! Yes I know that theft of, and from cars is NOT unknown in Germany. But you have to say that the fear of it is DEFINATELY far less than here in "good old" GB. Perhaps they; "catch the bastards" more often and when they do, deal with them in a way which says: "DON'T DO IT AGAIN" or else, I don't know.

Maybe their Police and Judiciary are more interested in catching real criminals and preserving the quality of life for ordinary folk rather than persecuting the ordinary decent motorist OFF the road, just to fit future Government policies. Maybe their Police and Judiciary protect the ordinary citizen more, EVEN IF they DO drive a car!!

I don't know but, one thing is for sure; It's a bigger problem HERE than anywhere else I know of in the civilised world. Perhaps it's "Just the Brits", who knows?

Now I know that you BIB's out there HAVE to do what you're told but I feel that your bosses have become Political puppets, dancing to the tune of each new Government to keep their nice WELL paid jobs AND Pensions. Falling into line with each new Government "Directive" to "Do the right thing at the right time". You though, are the ones who will suffer in the Publics eye, I'm sorry to say it, but I'm beginning to feel that way myself. I've had a clean licence since 1994 and drive every day from place to place. How much longer I can "beat the system" I don't know, it's just a question of time isn't it? And as far as the Motorway speed limit is concerned, we are in the LAST century!!

I know all this is getting a long way from the origional post, but! It IS all related. STOP persecuting US and DO SOMETHING about the SCROTES that are costing US and this Country Billions of Pounds per Year!! Is this NOT REALLY your JOB? Otherwise you are losing ALL Public support.

Sorry to turn this into a rant BiB's Maybe you feel the same way and that's why you're here, I know of a few of you who DO!
