So my motor is getting rebuilt (again) after melting a piston.
This thread isnt to discuss the whys as i have a good idea and will be taking it easier with the gas in future on this engine.

Its a TVR 4.6 rover V8 running 4.0 pistons and a CR of about 10.2:1 giving 320 bhp NA and will use a maximum of 150 shot of nitrous on thd strip.

I am carefully rebuilding the engine and am at the point of regapping the piston rings.
So any recommendations or comments will be appreciated.

I'd use:

Top = bore x .008"
Second = bore x .0055
Oil = minimum .015"

Measurement should be taken an inch down the bore.

^^ thats what my total seal sheet says, but surely your piston ring supplier would be the best person to ask ?

Ring supplier would be better to ask lol

Simple rule...better too loose than too tight ! ( as far as piston rings go anyway )
