Saxo VTR

This is my Saxo VTR. Iv had it since feb 2011 its not the fastest car in the world ( by a long long way) but its fun without breaking the speed limit.
its cheap to run and insure even with the modifications and it normally gets around 35-40 mpg so is good for times when i have no money.
I know a lot of people on here will think its chav tat and tbh i dont really disagree but its great fun and really cheap.






Iv recently been considering a swap for an MX5 or saving up and selling it to fund a 328i but iv grown quite attached to my saxo so it might be around for a while longer.
Also back bumper has recently been replaced with a decent one with no huge hole. And i know i need to paint the rocker cover.

Would not call your saxo chavvy at all really, some are, but the mods you have done suit it well IMO

Great little cars. I'd leave the rocker cover as it is to be honest. Looks nicely used and abused!

cracking little cars, I've recently bought a VTS as a runabout for a bit of fun.

There's something about them that make them immense fun to throw about without doing silly speeds, and they're so easy to tweak and upgrade cheaply.

Lash a standard bootlid on and you're laughing!

16v it i just recently got rid of my throttle bodies VTS, they are fantastic cars for the money

We have one as a track car, woefully underpowered but maintains speed well and a really good laugh, if only it had more power........

I never understood why people went to length to fill in the number plate recess just to have to tack the plate on somewhere odd! It could be a nice little car with some un-modding.

I would:

- Get a standard boot lid.
- Get a standard grill.
- Hook the rocker cover oil breather up to something
- Fix the suspension, looks like someone tried to lower it but couldn't get the rear torsion bars out so gave up.

..but that's just me.

This. Nothing wrong with the Saxo - it's easy prey for those that don't know quite as much about cars as they like to think they do to knock them.
But as a tool fulfilling the role of a motor car, they're actually pretty spot on. There's not much they're (relatively speaking) crap at.

I recently sorted the oil breather and i am keeping an eye out for a good condition standard bootlid. This smoothed ones a pain in the arse to open. I am unsure about the suspension because i dont want to have to replace the rear axle straight after lowering it so if i am keeping the car ( I find out on saturday) Then im going to be ordering an axle from IMAxles and lowering that a little bit.

I like the tasteful mods, though that rear plate light needs to go
I have a soft spot for these, used to own a VTR (albeit a MK1) and I loved it.
Felt very capable and nimble, was great fun to chuck around, thanks to how light it was. Go kart handling at its finest!

Would definitely have another at some point.

Looks really quite smart, and I am by no means an ardent fan of Saxos. Reminds me of my old C2 VTS, same engine more or less. Is yours bolted together with spit and hope? Mine sure was. Underside of the bonnet didn't even have a top cost, only primer!! Cheapo Frenchies!

Those guys seem pretty pricey, scrapyard/breakers may be a better bet. Though with those you'll need a beefy slide hammer to get the torsion bars out, even the ones on my 2003 were well rusted in and that was a few years ago now. Remember to unwind the brake bias valve at the back otherwise the car will think the emtpy boot is filled up with bags of concrete which will create some interesting braking behaviour.

was my first car. Pretty pokey little things. Decent handling. Cheap feel to them lets them down slightly. Only noticed how bad it was till i got my 22 year old car which doesn't squeak rattle or anything!
