First weekend as Chimaera owner... Smiling lots.

Hi,
first weekend as a chimaera owner (400HC) had the AA man out, had soopa help from pistonhead members who helped solve the problems.
regardless of the problems (sorry to stuff up the gassing station section) i'm still smiling... in fact smiling lots...
and that outweighs any problems encountered.
live in godalming, surrey, drove through a narrow road with high buildings either side.... the acoustics were amaaaaazing.
p.s. - lots of people harp on about german cars and reliability...and poo poo chimaeras.. however, funny(ish) story... a couple of weeks go i was driving my new merc sports coupe (now lost its garage space) across kew bridge and the 6 speed sequentronic gear box blew... and i mean went bang.
computer froze the enitre car. completely stranded.
merc in workshop for 4 days (repaired under warranty)!
there's a moral there somewhere.

I have had mine for a couple of months, Chim 1993, 30,000 miles 4.3 rover V8. I am in my 50's and have lots of BMW's and Alpha's so can make a judgement.
TVR's are good motors basically, however they do have a lot of rough edges. If you can accept these you could have a supercar for buttons.
Who the f*** would sell a £30,000 car that has such a crap handbrake? Crazy.
Many of the car parts for mine are now unavailable so you need to do research on the web and tap into specialists.
Last point is you can stress the car big time due to the torque. The suspension will not last as long as a eurobox. Mine is already shagged and buying the best kit will not be cheap. It will in my opinion however be worth it.
What doesn't work? Handbrake, interior light, alarm, door locks. What is iffy? Steering rack, steering UJ's, suspension, differential, door fit etc.
You have the picture, a frightening and enjoyable beast that tests you every time you go out. The alternatives are say 4 times the cost. Lets say I just fancy it.
Top marks for the minimalist look and curvy inside as long as you don't look too closely. It's hand made and better than I could do but a bit rough.
Kinda like some women I know. Both are a good source of adrenalin!!
