Aaaargh! Throttle Pot!
Discussion
Guess it's my turn then.
Drove from London to Somerset on Weds night - through torrential rain for 3 hours.
Next day (after mopping up pool of water in drivers foot well) drove from Somerset to North Devon - more torrential rain all the way (1:45hrs).
Covered the car up with full cover and left in camping field for approx 48hrs.
Result: It drove like an absolute dog on Saturday even though really hot weather should have dried it all out.
Journey back to London today was punctuated by bad jerking (easy!) under low revs. Generally not too nice.
Hit M25 and saw a 'dead' Chimaera (overheated I guess) on the hard shoulder getting rescued. Kept looking at temp guage as I kangarooed past Heathrow. Waved up at another Chimaera (this one fully mobile).
Made it home and let it cool off. Started it up again but now keeps cutting out.
I assume, from my research into previous posts that the above is a recipe for throttle pot problems (?)
Did anyone else suffer in the rain?
If it is the TP, any ideas for protecting from the elements?
Cheers - hope you all enjoyed the Silverstone meet!

It sounds more like water in the electrics, to be honest, especially the distributor cap and ht wiring - if the leads have gone at all porous, they soak up water and then track sparks between them till they dry out. Having the car "sweating" while wet under a cover won't have helped, I'm afraid.
I pressure washed mine at one stage and it ran like a dog till it dried out (and until I had checked and cleaned every electrical connector I could find) - there's a connector in the loom that runs along the "Vee" of the engine above the right hand rocker cover, just above No 2 cylinder - it's also very prone to water ingress.
Course, it could be that the throttle pot has been on its last legs and has indeed chosen this moment to fail - they are swines that way.

Thanks for the tip! It's going to be a few days in the garage so hopefully will dry through.
Would have thought that today's 6 hour drive from Devon to North London should have dried it though?
I fitted the alternative Cerbera 4.2 type TP and it's fine now, I think the main difference is the temperature it can tolerate. I obtained mine from Walldonway TVR in Larkfield (Kent), their telephone
number is 01732 870386, the part number is E1586 costing just £22.24 inc postage, this is also less than half the price of the standard S type TP.
I think the fuel pressure regulator can have similar symptoms.
Throttle pot arrived today (ordered yesterday lunchtime from www.TVRGEAR.COM - excellent service!).
Fitted in 5 mins - started first time and runs like a dream.
Many thanks guys for helping me through my first TP experience!
