Anyone ever performed an engine swap on a canbus equipped vehicle?

Trying to help a colleague out. He has swapped the engine in a 1.8 turbo VAG car to a 6 cylinder engine from another model of a similar year, swapped ecu, engine loom, clocks, immob ring and key chip and it won't run.

Is there any way round a can system?

You sometimes get issues if you don't change the headlamp switches over on the BMW models

Maybe you have to change the fag lighters over. Could be coded!

Body computer, dashboard, abs computer, airbag computer.

It'll be the immobiliser/dash odometer backup stuff.

Car stereo and other items could be linked into the chain too.

Be easier just to stick an aftermarket ecu on it lol

If it is all wired up and wont start, there is bound to be a CEL showing. Get VAGCom and see what codes it's throwing up. If something on the chain is missing it will be shouting about it.
