'Sleeping Dogs' is coming out this Friday (EU) and after watching Total Biscuit playing about on it ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI3AeT9pI9w) I've pre-ordered it off Steam!

If you ever playing 'True Crime' on your Playstation it might feel familar to you as it was developed by the some of the same people until Activision dropped it and Square Enix picked it out of the gutter!
Its an open world Police/Triad sandboxy game so should be keeping me busy for the next couple of weekends at least!
It went under my radar honestly but it looks pretty good and for ~£26 how could I say no!
Anyone else picking it up?

I preordered it this morning after seeing the praise from the reviews and I need an modern open world to keep me amused until GTA5. Using preorder code from Sainsbury's, SEGCON12, cost £30.39 for the Xbox 360.
The city looks stunning and worth exploring. I love the Arkam combat system, so this Batman Lite effort should please me. Story is getting a lot of praise too.
My biggest concern is the driving looks terrible, and then there is the 'car to car jump'... I'll probably be walking. I wish there could be a decent open world game with half decent (read: Forza) driving. GTA4 did the best job to date, but it was still arcadey and many people hated it for the understeer/body roll.
Looking forward to delivery day regardless.

Played about an hour of it last night (PC via Steam)
The graphics are very good - better than GTA IV. Probably down to it being a good port.
The story line seems pretty good, not dark like GTA IV. (If we are making comparisons!)
My only gripe is that the controls on the PC aren't brilliant - but after work I'll have a fiddle and ramp up the sensitivity.
I'll probably post tonight with further opinions, but so far so good definitely something to tide me over until GTA V!

My thoughts so far.
Story is great.
City is good fun to explore. Lacking in detail compared to Liberty City, but a welcome change from American cities.
Hand to hand combat is fun. Not quite Batman, but the best of any open world yet.
The driving is so bad it makes me want to walk everywhere.
Few hours in. Once I got over the fact it wasn't GTA, I am begrudgingly accepting its flaws.
However, I do find it hard to understand why a 2012 game fails to equal GTA from 2008.

Read up on this games development history. It's a miracle that's it's out at all. Story is great.

I'm inclined to agree, the combat is awesome (especially once you start to learn the new moves)
The camera is a bit of an arse though (I'm playing on the Xbox so it could be better on the pc)
The mini games are a bit odd too, really can't fathom who thought karaoke would be a hood idea!

Can you not just adjust the camera on the fly with the right analogue stick.
Just finished the main story line, so at least 15 hours of game time, still loads of other stuff to tie up including karaoke!
Really enjoyed it - very good story line.
It's not a GTA beater but that's not what they were trying to achieve!

You can, but in the car, as soon as you move the camera will swing around to the back of the car. You need to reserve for about 5 to 10 meters before it swings to the front. Either way, it will override your camera position making it very difficult to get out of tight spots without smashing the car up. Aiten said:
