S1 Elise - What to look for
Discussion
All,
As per my previous post (www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=114038) my friend has now fallen in love with S1 Elise after a test drive this weekend.
So my questions (as a TVR owner but not much of a Lotus expert) :-
1) What are the things to look for / avoid with S1 Elise?
2) Are there any subtle changes in spec on different years (currently looking '98 -> 2000)?
3) Is there an Elise equivalent of the TVR bible?
4) Any good www sites to look at?
5) Any recomendations on the ones currently for sale on Pistonheads?
Cheers
Ian

have a look at the following website, it's got a lot of good information that will help you out
www.elises.co.uk
www.elises.co.uk
...and elise faq (search archives).
When I was looking the forums here are as much as you need.
The later models tend to have most niggles sorted out. A 2000 car should be a good buy, market is good, lots of options out there for very good money.
Pick of the bunch for me on the classifieds at the moment are some excellent looking S160's and there's a lovely '79 Special Ed 111s (but then I'm biased).
Main thing to do is when you've found the one you like, have it checked over by a reputable indie or a dealer. For a couple of hundred quid its worth the time and any seller worth their salt will not quibble if you do this.
Best of luck, Tim
