Can anyone recommend an OBD reader?

I'd like to read codes and look at live engine data on a 2006 S-Max.
If I can use the same tool for my VX220 then so much the better.
I don't have a strong preference whether it's PC based or a handheld - I've never used either before.

I recently bought one of these from this seller. Used it twice, once as test on SWMBO's car and once on a mate's A4 that has an occasional check engine light.

Brilliant toy, check and resets fault codes, but also has all live data for intermittent faults.

I picked mine up off eBay for £25 ish, excellent bit of kit. Works on my Evo, wife's BMW and my daily hack of a C4. I would seriously consider taking one with me when buying a second hand
