So, aside from the reduced cabin heat, better throttle response and hit on MPG ( not overly applicable but i'm a bit anal.. ) any side effects to decating?
I was thinking decat pipes that look like cat's, so if the PFY at the MOT station does the test it will still pass..
Does it make it much louder or just a nicer sound?
Have a local exhaust chap who i'm sure will be able to make somthing up for a reasonable price, just wondering on any negatives ( aside from the possible conversation with Mr and Miss Rozzer ).
Or is it worth going the whole hog, bunging the MOT chap an extra case of beer and getting the cross over pipes as a replacement for the Cat's?

It is not a visual check on cats that will fail it with a decat, it is the effect on emissions that it will fail on. Unless of course you have a bent MOT garage willing to risk their livelihood by giving out dodgy passes.Besides its only half an hour job once a year to stick the cats back on for the test.
Thats why i went the silenced de-cat route my system was very loud even at 70mph it was over the top. It is great now it just settles down on a cruise and is more or less silent on light throttle at 70. Not to much at tick over as said and i can slip the cats back in for the MOT when the time comes.
