Need to use connect from old sensor, but for $20 this seems like a bargain, if it works.

Any thoughts?

Looks good and even if it takes a month to swim round from China it's a lot less than the £100+ that the usual suppliers want. At the end of the day they aren't anything clever internally, just a coil of wire and an iron core in a threaded tube.

Most small electronics I order from China eBay sellers seems to arrive pretty quickly, recently GoPro Battery/Charger took just 8 days.

My experience is similar - I had something the other day from Hong Kong that arrived as fast and as cheaply as things sent from the UK - I don't know how they do it.

Good find btw - get it added to the alternative parts thread thumbup

Be good to know if this works, ukkid35, are you going to try one?
Shame this thread wasn't 2 months ago, I've recently replaced mine frown

Need to check whether the thread definitely is 5/8” UNF, if so I’ll order one later today.

Might as well order on now then, they usually last about 3 months in my experience biggrin

MSP675 is 5/8" 18 UNF, however I think we need MSP6724 which is 3/4" 16 UNF. Sadly they seem to be rather expensive.

Though it probably wouldn't be hard to make an adaptor if you aren't worried about originality.

I considered that, but perhaps the outputs are different, I haven't studied the specs in detail though.

I've just taken delivery of a small batch of sensors, not had a chance to fit yet, but will do soon and report back. Obviously they will need the connector from the old sensor, so not a direct swap. If you are interested in one let me know before I list them on eBay.

Mine arrived today bounce

Stuck it in the Lathe for a quick test, didn't bother gapping it, just made sure there was no contact.

Looks promising, with the correct gap the voltage should be higher, saying that I connected a sig gen with a 5V output to the connector on the car and it drove the speedo O.K.

Unlike Mark I don't have a lathe, or a proper oscilloscope, but I do have a car on axle stands, and a cheap Chinese oscilloscope that I don't know how to use.

Even with a fairly generous gap I got 5v in 3rd at idle

So I wired it up properly and saw the Speedo work for the first time since I bought the car - I've driven a mile already (on axle stands)!

It's surprisingly accurate, showing exactly 50mph at 2000 in 5th.

If anyone needs a sensor please let me know (or Mark as I'm sure he has a few spare as well)!

Fitted mine and can confirm it works, set the gap to 40thou, rock steady needle with no flickering up to national speed limit.

Had to make a reducer so it fitted the existing bracket, for 20 quid + half hour making the reducer it was worth the punt.

Hi Mark, Congrats on your success, just to confirm you got a 5/8" rather than 3/4" and made an adaptor to enable it to fit?

Can any of you confirm the thread pitch for the speed sensor, is it 5/8 or 3/4-16 unf?
Did you have any issues with these alternatives?
