I thought a front ender was about £800 (not entirely sure why, but must have read it somewhere) but just got a quote back for £1700! A little out of line with my expectations...

Whats you're [recent] experience?

... and a finish like orange peel that will fall off after a couple of years.

S&D in Blackpool quote £900 + VAT & paint for a Cerbera front end with a full respray (same colour) at £2810 +VAT & paint

My mates body shop take around 1800 for a full colour change but that also depends on what colour or paint is used. And just because it is cheaper than some of the big names does not mean it will be crap do your home work first of all and get a look of cars that are currently being worked on to see the level of finish is all i am saying.

I run a body shop in Kent. We charge £800 for a front end repaint plus Vat plus paint. This is the same for a cerebra through to a griff.

Repaint is dependent on condition of the car. Ie if there are cracks in the gel coat this takes more work than removing stone chips. Normally a repaint is between 3k-5k depending if door shuts inside engine bay boot shut are to be done.

You do get what you pay for with repaints. We only use spies hecker paint. £250 per gallon not cheap upol for £45 per gallon.

Make sure you use some one who knows about fibreglass. Repair processes are different. Don't let any one tell you it's the same as working on metal cars because it's not!

Hope this helps

So Robert, I have a Moonraker Black '01 4.5.
It has quite a few road chips in the front, a dirty great big crack in the rear bumper mould where I reversed her in the corner of a wall and a long, deep scratch on the passenger's door skirt where I scrunched her going round a corner in a public garage.
I want the headlight pod bezel filled in and covered as well.

Can you give me an approximate quote ?
( I live in Luxembourg so it's not so easy to pop over for a visual quote )

Agree with this, we had a panel done last year at a local independent spray shop. Before doing this, he was previously a safari tour guide in South Africa. Undeterred, we looked at his current jobs and were impressed so took him on. He did a great job!

I imagine that's the paint cost and quantity required on that one, although I did have an interesting conversation with Malcolm from S&D yesterday and he mentioned that the paint costs might be coming down on some paints as they've a new supplier, not sure if yours will be one of those affected though. Might be worth another call.

Cheers, it was 4 litres at £600 a litre, plus the costs of stripping it etc. It may have to wait, just been made redundant and there's other vehicle related issues to worry about.

Rosso Pearl is a royal pain, my old Cerbera had a slight rear end bump and the insurance company coughed up for a full respray.
Took it to Option 1 and had it done in Rover Nightfire Red (light version) and it was stunning job .... photo still on their website

God i miss that car

I know. On the one hand I really want to keep the colour the same as it's one of the reasons I bought the car. On the other hand, other colours are so much cheaper.

How about having it wrapped in your colour ?

Sorry to hear about the redundancy, hope something pops up soon;)
