The new workhorse - 306 HDi
Discussion
So following on from my thread "Sell your car to clear your debt?" and the answer being a resounding 'YES' I went ahead and flogged the Ford Focus TDCi, 'Sport' spec, as it just bored the life out of me and I didn't 'need' a car worth what it was (about £3.5k).
The idea was to buy a £1000 car and become debt-free, to reduce my monthly outgoings.
I looked around and the cars in the budget I had set were very shed-like, so I upped my budget a bit and landed myself a 306 HDi for £1600.
It's a fair chunk of money for an old Pug, but I have a soft-spot for these cars (this will be my fourth) and it is in pretty good nick with 12 months tax and test (as the previous owner wasn't looking to sell it, I talked him into it!).
So far so good, it's managed to half my insurance bills every month! And averaged 52.2 mpg on my first tank (620 miles, without the light coming on...)
Very happy with it, also has the obligatory PH sticker in the rear window now too!

Great cars! I have always been into my peugeots mainly the 106 rally/GTis
Took a 306 hdi in p/x 6 month ago now! Went to b&q init for some bits and bats.... Still sat on my driveway now lol
Will move it on soon as we could do with a van for the business
Iv done 10k trouble free miles init!
Not bad for what it owes me at p/x value

Good buy!
I bought one for £1500 last year in November, with only 50k on it. Thought it was a good buy, but the low miles meant it hadn't been looked after at all. I've since had to pretty much replace all the suspension components on the front end and had a massive issue with the fuel pump and electrical gremlins. Sorted eventually, and it now devours the 1000miles drive i have to do every two weeks!
