phono amp suggestions please.
Discussion
i have recently moved back into my vinyl and have purchased a project essential turntable and a pair of wharfdale diamond 9.1 main speakers. my problem is choosing an amp to pair the two up. i am aware that some review say the project can sound overly bright so looking for one with a tone control. also is a pre amp suggested?

A400 a good call. Alternatively, the dear old NAD 3020. Easily found on the bay, would proabably fit the bill and give you change to buy more records.
A good phono stage, and certainly not bright. Don't get carried away bidding though, they really aren't quite as good as their reputation. Very good for the money, at the right price
A&R (Arcam) A60 if you are feeling brave and don't mind din plugs for everything else.

Get yourself on eBay and pick up a Pioneer A400. Still an amazing amplifier, with a fantastic phono stage after all these years and no tone controls to mess about with.
great amp - play the waiting game on ebay. you can still get one for £40, but you have to be patient.Edited by Richie Howard on Friday 17th August 12:54
