From manufacturer.

I have a fiat stilo needs new wiper mechanism as the passenger side wiper has popped its connection. Thing is this is going to coat best part of £200. Now the part has already been ordered through the independent garage via their supplier who have had to get the part straight from the manufacturer.

I've now decided I'm just going to get rid of the car and attempt a fix of the wipers myself, save myself £200 and part ex the car.

Garage is saying that because the part has been ordered now that I can't say I don't want it anymore and that I'd still have to pay for it. Is this true or can I still say send it back?

If you've paid, it's probably yours.

If not, let them know you don't need it and let that be the end of it. They'll be on sale / return anyway I reckon.

Did they tell you this info when you enquired?

I haven't paid a penny yet. So if the supplier has ordered direct from fiat then there'll be no refund?

Most order parts from dealers seem to be on non-returnable basis. That's what it said last time I was at Peugeot and Fiat anyway.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Didn't think to check eBay before I went to the garage just figured it'd b a clip required. The motor is fine it's only the linkage on the passenger wiper that's a problem.

Car isn't really worth much anymore either. 20% of the value will be this part.

And if not, then it should be.

The no of times in the past we had people order parts, never to return, was horrendous. We had to enforce this.

This was long before the interweb though...and Lead Times were a wee tad longer than today!

If you haven't signed anything or paid anything and they don't have the car, I don't really see what they can do if you just say you don't want it and walk away.
