Hi, am thinking of buying a 996 which is based in South Somerset.

Does anyone know of a good indie that I could use for a PPI ?

I know that there are inspectors like Peter Morgan but would rather take it somewhere that can get it up on a ramp and do a slightly more thorough inspection.

Not exactly that close, but Ashley at Braunton Garage, North Devon is a reliable and knowledgeable guy. There is also Crispin at Oaktree, Newton Poppelford, nr Exeter that you might consider. I seem to remember there was an indie somewhere near Honiton who was well respected too. I'm in Taunton and I don't know of anyone closer than these.
Hope that helps.

Other options include Marque21 down in Bridport, Steve Bull over in Devizes and MR sports cars near Salisbury. I live in South Somerset and unfortunately none of the indies are particularly close by.

Thank you for all the replies, very much appreciated! thumbup

I've heard of Braunton and Oak Tree - Crispin actually inspected the 993 that I bought a few years ago! (small world!)

The car in question (a 2002 996 C2 cab) is based in Knole and the seller thought that Oak Tree was too far away (about 40 miles). Feels like its going to be impossible to find somewhere close enough that the seller is willing to accommodate. Looking at google maps, Steve Bull is further away (c .50 miles) so likely a non-starter.

Bit frustrating as it seems I may need to give up on this particular car. Just don't fancy buying without the peace of mind of having a proper inspection carried out.

Honiton could work as it seems the closest place so far (other than Taunton itself!).

Yes, Crispin @ Oak Tree is a top bloke.

Thanks for the recommendation re SCS. Will drop the seller a line to see if that works...

Apparently even Bridport was deemed too far away. The seller is only prepared for a mechanic to visit the car where it is currently located. So on that basis i have decided to give up....

Thanks to all for the helpful feedback above!
