Recommend a Waterproof Jacket for Open Car Driving

I'm off to France again in mid-September and if it's anything like last time I'm expecting a lot of rain.

I'm finding it difficult to get a decent lightweight(ish) jacket that is waterproof and windproof and has a high collar.

I don't want a bright dayglo item, but something more in keeping with an older classic car.

Anyone able to give recommendations?

Try a sailing jacket. I got a "Musto" years ago and it is wind and waterproof but breathes OK

Have had one of these for about 5 years now and swear by it. Warm, windproof, lightweight and super quality.

A few months ago I picked up a pretty cheap berghaus lightweight jacket from go outdoors, just plain black, seems to work well as a wind/waterproof, the only issue being its a regular jacket length and so doesnt keep legs dry.

Bit pricey at £600 odd quid but a Belstaff Roadmaster or Icon will keep you dry, look very good, match any car or bike you have and last forever. A worthwhile investment!

Puzzled - is it still breathable when it's been soaked in beeswax & paraffin? Just puzzled as I'm used to being very careful with breathable ski gear not to mess it up - I sweat a lot

I must admit that all I take with me is my golfing waterproofs. Light, breathable, and completely waterproof. Many these days are a bit flashy but this one might fit the bill:-

I used to have a motor bike one piece but the call of nature and all that made it a nuisance!

Barbour do some great coats and they look the part too, warm and waterproof. British and there are some real bargains if you visit the factory shop in North Shields.
