Recommend road helmet

After a little incident yesterday I now find myself looking for a road helmet, criteria is that it has to be as light and as comfortable as possible and also having a little dash of 'pro' thrown in

So far the Kask Mojito is top of the list, I've tried the Vertigo on which was very comfortable, the Mojito is the more afford\ble version I understand.

Budget is £100 max and can we please keep this thread about helmet recommendations only, there are plenty of others for the pros & cons

This is by far the best helmet I've ever owned. Supremely comfortable and adjustable, comes with an excellent range of accessories like insect mesh, summer mesh, magnetic chin strap (awesome) even a bloody hat box for transporting around in the car

Recently bought a Uvex Boss Race, in 'carbon-look' white. Retails at c£60, but I've seen it as low as £39.99 (the price I paid on Amazon). Great fit for me, with a partial bug-mesh at the front, really cool and far less sweaty than my old lid. Only one criticism was that the chinstrap is a little uncomfortable on a longer ride. (started feeling it yesterday about 70 miles into a 100 miler). Available in a number of colours and sizes with a really easy to use retention system which is easy to use on the bike, and doesn't sit high on your head like some helmets do. Very happy to recommend this helmet, although the caveat is that, even at £40 it is the most expensive lid I've bought, so I couldn't compare it with any higher end stuff.
Good luck getting a comfortable lid that fits you well. That's a far more important consideration than what it looks like, IMHO.

I like the look of the Las Victory in the post above. If I had the cash to spare, that would certainly tempt me!

If you're concerned about helmet effectivity, I believe these road helmets from Specialized conform to the very strict Snell standard:

I believe they also give you a discount on a replacement helmet should you be involved in a crash.
Can't comment on what they are like personally though, I haven't worn them.

Got myself a Specialized Propero II a couple of months ago, so much more comfortable than my previous lid, and it also feels more like your head is actually in it, rather than it just perched on top. Should be about £70 - I got an all black one but it is also available in a similar colour scheme to the Kask one you posted a picture of earlier.

^^ Propero II is quite comfortable although, vain person that I am, I couldn't stand the mushroom look it gave me. Replaced immediately with a lazer O2 - which is very nice (and on special when I bought it which helped). I still have the spesh lid if you're interested.

Now that is nice.

I don't think I'd have a problem wearing that or the Kask. Being a 'helmet convert' looks are important to me and I firmly believe in look good, ride good.

Any issues with the arms of your sunglasses? I've read several comments alluding to it not being idea.

I know what they mean, but I've not had a real issue. The adjustable back brace is more than enough to make up for that

The best helmet for you is one that fits properly... it's a bit of a gamble to buy randomly from the web. What fits one head may not fit another.

Support your LBS and buy from a proper shop where you can try them on

Got a Kask Mojito, which I bought after a Giro Ionos. Love the Kask a lot more, much more comfortable with a nice leather chinstrap.

Nearest Kask stockist is a 40 mile trek but yes, getting the right fit is important and I'm hoping that the Mojito is as comfortable as the Vertigo which I tried on.

carrera radius from wiggle......just bought one and its spot on think it was 70 squid down from about 130......the pro's wear em so its good enough for me.you wont look like mushroom in it either as its a close fit

I have a Specialized Chamonix. fits very nicely.

Must look at the Mojito Lime though: matches the bike.

Does anyone have a Bell Sweep and are they comfortable / any good?

I'm in Georgia and have yet to see an adult riding a bike so bike shops are a bit hard to come by so it will have to be an internet purchase or nothing.
