Driving down from Leeds for the first leg of a bit of a Euro trip. Would prefer to avoid the premier inn type places but doesnt need to be anything overly expensive. Theres a group of about 10 of us and we need good private parking too. Will probably be off too early in the morning for breakfast but somewhere that can put on a basic spread early doors would be a bonus.

Not sure if we have any PHers that run anywhere but I'm sure a few have you will have done a similar trip wink

There is a Holiday Inn Express 5 minutes from the tunnel. Clean and tidy (quite new) and more than enough for some shut eye the night before an early start.

I've used it many times.

This +1

I work just next door and I often see super cars and convoys staying there. I usually take a look round the car park before I start work as there is often very nice cars in there smile

Rocksalt is a very nice place but its off street parking in the harbour and personally I wouldn't want to leave my car around that area overnight as there are a lot of pubs in close proximity. Excellent restaurant though if you fancy it for the return journey and enjoy your seafood

On our recent "Alpine North Tour" by Pistonheads, we all used the Mercure, Hythe, before departing next morning via Eurotunnel. Worked perfectly. Plenty of safe private parking at this hotel.

ive stopped here a few times on the way to Europe, great parking, nice modern rooms, etc. Usually some good deals to be had if you search the web a bit

I used this place to stay in on my way to Le Mans - was very good, got a deal on LateRooms.com so was reasonably priced as well

After 14 years are there any better recommendations, safe parking, reasonable rooms, good beer.
