Deep scratch....
Discussion
Some BSTD scratched my Elise on Saturday....6 inches long, and quite deep.....
Before I shell out to get a big proper job done, I'm hoping to do a bit of a cover job with some paint I've ordered from Bell and Colvill first. Does anyone have any advice on this, esp. how to fill the scratch etc., and what with?
I'd appreciate any advice.
Cheers....

sorry - chipsaway employ absolute monkeys to spray cars....if you're going to use an outfit use 'colourworks' (www.colourworks.co.uk) - at least they train and vet their employees!
however....personally wouldn't bother paying to get this done until you're going to sell car - you'll only get a huge stone chip the day after otherwise!
It is impossible to spray a deep scracth out of paint without a large area blend (risky on many colours hence often get whole clamshell redone)...therefore what you can do is very similar to what they can - just with less practice.
Suggest
1) get some thick primer - comes in tubes and is very gloopy. very careully use fine paintbrush to drip into scratch. Doing this properly (one drip at a time) will take a while. Let it set and will fill up the gap a lot.
2) paint over with touchup stick. again very carefully. Using a proper modelling paintbrush rather than the tossy thing you get with the touch-up tube helps enormously.
to be honest that will be as good as you can get without egtting whole thing done. If you're careful you can make em near invisible like this.
