Thoughts on Tamora with T350 front
Discussion
Elsewhere in this forum there is are some pictures of variuos Tamoras undergoing transformation to have T350 front and sometimes back ends grafted on. Personally I think they look good and it wouldn't put me off buying one, in fact it would make the car more desirable to me.
What does the future hold for these owners when the time comes to move the car on? - Discuss

Well, as the owner of the above mentioned T350 Spider, as I think I might call it, I haven't given to much thought to what the car will be worth to sell on.
I suspect it might be worth the same as Tamora, because although it's Cat D, there was no good reason for that, and the whole body has been repaired, I believe to a better standard than the factory. Plus car was in extremely good condition before the accident and It'll be in even better condition after.
And then there's the fact that a lot of people, I'd say the majority, think it's a more attractive car than the Tamora it's based on. I know if I'd been able to buy the finished product I would have paid a premium, but I couldn't, so I had to get it made!
As long as this stays the only T350s in the world, maybe that will make it worth more?
On the other hand I suspect there are many people who wouldn't touch a Cat D car, repaired or not, and especially wouldn't want some bastardised car, when it seems that 'unmolested' cars are increasing in value.
But I'm interested to know what other people would think, because I'm going to need to find an insurance value for this beast soon!

It's not a T350 Spider, its not a T350 anything. It's a re-bodied Cat D Tamora. Unmolested cars are increasing in value. Those are the facts.

Values and opinions are subjective.

How would you get a valuation for insurance purposes? It must be possible as kit cars based upon Sierras and MR2s manage (no inference intended).
Most will be of the opinion it's worth more than a Cat D Tamora and less than a nice Tamora.
I suspect that car when finished, if to the standard I would expect PMs work to be, will sell for a bit more than a nice Tamora and less than a mint unmolested example.
My personal opinion on value?
I would value it at less than a Cat D, but thats just an opinion from someone who likes orginal cars and would have prefered to see it repaired as a Tamora.

Fair play to all of your points. But can I ask, aside from body, what is the difference between a Tamora and a T350? If I took the body off both, could you tell them apart mechanically?
And mine has been re-bodied.

So if you went over my car and a real T350 side by side, excepting the roof and boot, could you tell them apart with body on?
And for the record, my car was not economically viable to repair as a Tamora, only because of the crazy Cat D label meaning it would be worth less than the rattiest 'straight' ones, despite the chassis, bodywork and interior being immaculate.
So it may have ended up (unmolested) in the skip or broken for parts, = 1 less TVR.

Greg as someone said in a previous post that it is subjective. You'll never unhinge the TVR purist for sure and that’s brilliant as the brand needs to keep its originality. BUT no matter what you do outside the originality of the mark there will ALWAYS be punters out there like Chris & me that will look for something different and generally will pay for individuality and are not interested in what other Tivsters or petrol heads think.
I've raced, sprinted, hill climbed, rallied, built & prepped cars since I was head high to a coffee table but I always like to see something different, but yeah that’s me and I know the purist come along & bang on about originality: its a religion for them and you'll never change their minds and their the ones that shout the loudest and sometimes can be quite rude but thats their passion talking...its about what an individual wants, what an individual perceives as their ideal car.... there will ALWAYS be a buyer out there no matter if its original or not....as long as its not chavy!

Smart mode - look at the V5, you won't change that. But can I ask, aside from body, what is the difference between a Tamora and a T350? If I took the body off both, could you tell them apart mechanically?

As for the body off litmus test, roll cage pick-up points and is the fuel tank location different, not sure sure? There are however minor diferences as you would expect from a small manufactuer - minor.
A cat D is a Cat D Chris, I cringe at some of the cars I've seen that have been classified as such (should have just been repaired) but its back to being a fact.
The arguement of skip destination is the justification used by many kit car builders to do what they've done and it's perfectly valid. As for ending up in the skip unmolested though, ... I think you forgot the molestation that took place when it changed to a car requiring cough: some body repairs.
I hope all goes well with the work, you find the colour you are happy with, and it gives you lots of fun when complete - it will certainly turn heads (and for the right reasons).

It's not for me, but I suspect I would be in the minority...

and I hope that didn't come accross as rude...I didn't think I had been?
