I wondered if any of the other 211 spyder owners had suffered from the following.

1. One of the alloys is blistering on the spokes from inside the wheel outwards, virtually the same in each spoke, other three wheels are fine. Porsche have offered a wheel refurb which I do not see as acceptable on a 5,500 mile car.

2. Sports steering wheel display appears to be breaking down on the inside on the left hand window, can't really describe it but if yours is doing it you can tell when compared to other side.

3. I have PSE and the chrome finish around the exhaust is horrible, tried a polish without success. Might be being picky with this one but my 6 year old Z4m exhaust still looked fantastic when I sold it.

The car auto locks - why does it not auto unlock??

LED lights, thought these were daytime running lights but the only way I can get them on, on their own is to select sidelights from the dial. Lights from the menu selects headlights and LED's

Any comparable advice would be appreciated.

1. pic would help. if it is just paint, i don't think it is unreasonable of the dealer to offer a refurb.
2. you have a PDK wheel? I thought it only displays on 1 side.
3. have you tried dedicated chrome polishes?
4. LED lights are correct the way you have described (side lights not DRLs). and yes it only auto locks

have i mentioned how much i disliked the z4mC laugh

Let OPC get the wheel refurbed, if it is not a match after that then go down the new wheel route.

Not sure what you mean, looking at mine its fine.

Need some chrome polish and maybe fine wire wool.

As far as i remember my last Audi and BMW all autolocked but not unlocked! have you had a look in the manual and on the centre display at the settings?

You do not have DRL's by the sound of it, mine light up on sidelights and from the menu all lights for day running (only set this when i was abroad).

Great car by the way, i've got the Cayman R but obviously the same setup.

On both my mk2.5 mx5 and the wifes mk3, the alloys blistered within a couple of years from new. I use nothing but soap and water to clean then - I stay well away from wheel cleaners, far too corrosive in most cases. Mazda replaced all the alloys under warranty - there was no mention of paint. BMW also replaced a polished M3 wheel under warranty I think.

The righthand side of the wheel is launch control, not that I have seen this illuminated yet!!

Tried ultra fine wire wool and polish, the brown has gone but the mark remains. Guess the finish is damaged.

So just confirm when your car is out of warranty and a minor cosmetic defect appears on a wheel , you'll pop along to your OPC and buy a new wheel ?

I thought not.

Might be missing the point here, but this was a OPC dealer purchase at £40k, the inside of every spoke is blistering, its never going to get any better. Should I not expect an alloy to last longer than 15 months before corroding?

Hard to disagree , but cannot see why replacement is first call .

My point is quite clear , I doubt if you would replace if the expense was on you , maybe then a repair would be preferable.

Potential double standards ?

The expense is not on the poster is it, he has already paid for a product that is fit for purpose . Refurbish of a wheel that is not up to quality expected is penny pinching by the OPC , shame on them !

I have painted alloys, no issues so far with them. You just need the OPC to explain why yours is like that.

Haven't got that wheel, got a proper manual version:-)

Daytime lights are simply the headlights on all the time. I thought they would be the led's but evidently not (for some reason). I always drive with headlights on anyway, rather people saw me coming.

I have pse and there is some discolouration of the exhaust tips, but with proper metal polish and pad they come up alright. It is just keeping on top of it. Think I left it too long before doing it properly which has left a couple of marks.

Auto unlock? I haven't noticed my doors locking as I move off, thought I had to do it manually. Unless there is a setting. But even if locked, the door will open with a pull on the strap.

Do you mean as you approach the car? Is there an option of keyless entry that locks it as you leave the car?

If that's the only wheel doing it, sounds like it might have had a cheap refurb on it already.
Porsche wheels are finished to a high standard IMO.

Don't get the led or auto unlock issue.

LED comes on when you turn the dial and, you don't want the car auto unlocking.

Enjoy the car, most of your issues are not really issues,

The LED and unlock weren't issues more questions. I assumed they were DRL's and it seemed odd to lock but not unlock. Both the BMW and our current mk6 golf, lock on drive away and unlock when you stop engine or remove the key.

Thats the point they are issues, and not what you would expect from a Porsche with 5.5k miles!

The auto opening may be able to be programmed by the OPC. If they say no, have a look on Planet9 to see if it can be done. Initially my OPC told me that the windows on the Cayman couldn't drop when the tailgate opens and I found out it could so they asked Porsche and figured it out.

As for the exhaust I can't see what your issue is from the photo but to be honest if its anything like my CS it will be jet black after a short time anyway!

My Spyder is 27 months old and at 11000 miles. My wheels are all perfect. Doors need two tugs on the "handle" to open. Exhaust tips blacken regularly
- I try to keep on top of them but they are not perfect. LED only front lights not available as day running lights from the on board computer.

Having put 250 miles on mine today I was reminded how great they are, roof down all the way, sports mode, sports exhaust on, yabadabadoo!
