I am restoring a Taimar
Discussion
Hello All TVR Classic Owners,
I am restoring a Taimar and yesterday went ahead and fitted the pedal frame and the new master cylinder and servo. I now feel as though I could become a professional contortionist. But BEWARE!!! the new servo has metric threads to fix it through the bulkhead, no great problem but after purchasing new imperial nylocks? That was not the major hassle, that was to come later after running a new throttle cable to the bike carburetors and attaching the clutch cable.
The problem was that the throat of the new clevis fork on the end of the rod that fixes to the shaft of the brake pedal was shorter than the one previously fitted ( the state of the old one says it might have been original). Unfortunately you cannot successfully drill a new hole for the new servo clevis fork with the pedal box installed, believe me I tried.
So......everything disconnected, remove servo/mastercylinder, pedalbox frame, redrill hole in a position to accomodate new servo and the the task of refitting and reconnecting everything.
CHECK that the clevis fork is the same as the one coming off..... if it isn't at least at the end of the saga you'll deserve a couple of beers, or three, or four, or how many was that last night?
Happy TVRing!

Spent the first part of the same day finding all the soft parts, in the concrete, at the skate park. Then on to removing the pedal box. My storage facility is so small, that the door only opens 20-30 degrees. Interesting difference to yours, 2500Ms have hydraulic clutch activation.
Good times.
Best,
